Meet Henry.

For a little guy with such a laid-back expression, Henry has suddenly become quite the celebrity.

After a recent Instagram reel of him making his rounds to visit his horse friends took off online, we figured it was finally time to properly introduce one of the ranch’s most beloved personalities. Truthfully, if you’ve spent any time around Pole Creek Ranch, chances are you’ve already seen him. He’s been quietly stealing the spotlight here for quite a while.

Henry came to us from Washington when he was less than a year old. Before arriving at the ranch, his companions were a rather eclectic crew of Watusi cattle and zebras; which honestly explains a lot about him. From the beginning, Henry settled into ranch life with ease, and almost immediately started making appearances at weddings. Gentle from day one, he quickly became our favorite little guest greeter.

Now, it’s hard to imagine a wedding season without him.

During receptions, Henry often wanders through with his signature slow-and-steady confidence, happily accepting scratches behind his ears from guests along the way. Kids absolutely adore him, though adults may be equally guilty of stopping everything they’re doing just to say hello. While his expression can sometimes look slightly bored or entirely unimpressed, don’t let him fool you — he enjoys every minute of the attention.

Fun tidbit: if you browse through our reviews on WeddingWire and The Knot, you’ll quickly notice Henry gets mentioned quite a bit. Somewhere along the way, he unintentionally became the most reviewed members of the ranch staff.

One of Henry’s closest friends on the ranch is Zsa Zsa, our beautiful Palomino Quarter Horse with plenty of personality herself. The two are nearly inseparable, and if they’re apart for even a few minutes, you’d think they had been separated for days. Henry casually walks underneath her belly and between her legs without a second thought, while the two spend hours nuzzling, chewing, and following each other around their pasture.

When Henry heads out on his daily walks, Zsa Zsa runs the fence line alongside him, whinnying the entire time. Their friendship is equal parts heartwarming and hilarious, and together they’ve become one of the most memorable duos at Pole Creek Ranch.

As for Henry himself, life is pretty simple. Mini burros are built for dry hay, open skies, and rugged terrain. So when this little guy gets access to our lush green wedding lawns, he treats it like he’s arrived at an all-you-can-eat buffet. To Henry, fresh grass is a luxury; not unlike champagne and appetizers during cocktail hour.

And honestly, that feels pretty fitting for him. After all, no one enjoys a wedding at Pole Creek Ranch quite like Henry does. These days, he’s become such a recognizable part of the ranch that he even has his own merchandise; including a Henry t-shirt and cap for guests who can’t help but become fans of the little guy.
